STRECON® Stripwound Container
The stripwound container is virtually a direct and much stronger alternative to the conventional multi-ring system. It is mostly applied as the pre-stressing system on the carbide die side but also increasingly for the carbide anvils.
The stripwound container is used for all system sizes. Smaller cell systems (e.g. carbide die bore Ø40 mm) would normally require a stripwound container of approx. Ø600 mm. Cell systems of Ø90-100 mm would require a stripwound container system of Ø1100-1300 mm. Larger cell systems (e.g. Ø120-150 mm) require larger pre-stressing units of some Ø1500-1900 mm. The current maximum size of the stripwound container is Ø2000 mm with a height of 350 mm.
Main technical benefits of the STRECON stripwound container:
- Fully elastic behaviour – meaning fully stable pre-stressing of the carbide die
- Increased loadability – allowing a higher pre-stressing of the carbide die
- Higher interference – up to 1.4% without damaging the container
- Easy maintenance – due to no plastification of the container itself
- Improved die life - due to improved interference fit of the carbide die
- Process stability - due to slower and less die bore expansion during HPS process
The STRECON container can handle a load that is 30-40% higher than conventional multi-ring systems and remains in a fully elastic state. This unique product feature also explains the long service life that can be expected from the STRECON container.
