Wear Parts

STRECON offers a number of accessories to fulfil the needs and preferences of the customers.

Wear Ring

The wear ring is made of high-quality tool steel from Uddeholm. The ring is designed and manufactured as a separate and replaceable ring, but it works essentially as an integrated part of the STRECON stripwound container. The main purpose of the wear ring is to protect the container in case that a fatal crack in the carbide die propagates. The ring also protects the STRECON container in case of abrasive wear/cold welding. The wear ring can easily be replaced without damaging the STRECON container. A few numbers of the wear rings are supplied together with the first stripwound container delivery, and then hereafter as replaceable wear parts matching the need of daily operations.

Sleeves / Hot Casings for the Die Inserts

The carbide die is mounted into a first ring, and usually by heat shrinkage. This first ring is also known as die sleeve, cooling sleeve, and hot casing. This first ring is not an integrated element of the STRECON container and cooling system, but it constitutes an integrated element of the overall pre-stressing of the carbide die. The selection of material and hardness is critical to the overall system performance, and will be specified in collaboration with the client. The sleeve is recommended just to be used one time. A number of sleeves are delivered together with the stripwound container, and then hereafter as wear parts required for daily operations.

Dies & Anvils

STRECON has over the years established good contacts to various manufacturers of carbide inserts and anvils, and offers deliveries of these critical tool components as well. The scope and nature of our assistance would be agreed with the individual client.
